8A- Solving The Problem
The problem I have chosen to tackle is the one dealing with homelessness and natural relief help and support, with the use of my product of a reusable heating cup. Generally with the homeless, shelters give them can goods with no way to heat it up, though I realized with the last exercise that this product can be used by numerous people for numerous reasons. The product is a stainless steel cup that is reusable and has a self heater on the bottom, making it convenient for a day at the office or any kind of trip. With the business plan of buy one give one to the community, people are able to donate one to a cause benefitting homelessness or a natural disaster just buy buying the product for themself. One other addition I was thinking about was adding reusable silverware folded in the lid of the cup.
I really like your idea Sara, I guess what I keep trying to imagine is how the heating mechanism will be powered. You don’t want a plug for the homeless so I would imagine it would be a long life battery to heat the cup. I would have purchased one of these for my camping trips and my daughters soccer games on cold days. We would sit in the bleachers wrapped in blankets on cold nights drinking hot chocolate or tea. There would be a great market for outdoor sports and team logos.

DeleteHello Sara,
ReplyDeleteI really like your idea. It is similar to Tom's Shoes with the buy one one give one program. The only issue I see is that making the bowl out of stainless steel would make it fairly expensive to mass produce. Maybe using plastic or ceramic would be the better alternative. If the the product was only aimed towards regular people for heating up their lunch then the stainless steel would be fine. However, since the target is to make these as easily available to the homeless as possible, the use of cheaper materials would be necessary.
